Britt Robertson was really good in this movie even though he character basically serves no point to the plot except at a handful of moments. She is kind of the "chosen one" but George Clooney and Athena do all the work. Speaking of, Athena was easily my favorite character in the movie. She may be a little girl but she kicked some serious ass and was a pretty funny character. George Clooney was good in it as well even though I didn't really buy him as a grumpy old man. The pace of the movie really gets going when these 3 characters begin to meet together. Up until that point, I wasn't really liking the movie. It had weird pacing and was very cheesy but I finally got into the movie when Athena and Casey first meet (with a little appearance by Keegan Michael-Key which was pretty cool).
The mystery of touching the pin and going to Tomorrowland was a joy to watch. I loved our first introduction to this magical place when Casey first goes there. It was genuine fun to watch and I wish this movie had more of that. The 3rd act is where problems begin to become more visible. Although I thought Hugh Laurie was great in the movie, I didn't really understand his motivation for what he was doing. He had a long monologue describing what he was doing but it kind of made no sense, especially since he wasn't an "evil" character. Also, I felt that the ending was somewhat anti-climactic and I desired something greater.
Even though I hated the beginning of the movie, I really got into it for the rest of the movie and ended up really enjoying it. I would say it was still a bit disappointing because the trailers were so amazing but I would still recommend Tomorrowland.
BONUS POINTS:
Tomorrowland is the latest film from director Brad Bird and so I had extremely high hopes for what this movies could be and those expectations were not met. However, I still really liked this movie. The basic plot is that the world is going to hell and Casey (Britt Robertson) is the key to helping Frank (George Clooney) save the planet. This plot is super ambitious and I really liked most of it. The visuals of Tomorrowland were a spectacular sight and I really had fun with all the scenes there. I just feel like there was something missing.
